Testing and Commissioning

UPS and Battery Charger systems play an important role in the security of power supplies. To ensure system availability over many years, these systems need to be maintained regularly.

In addition to upholding availability, regular maintenance increases the life span of the system. UPS and Battery Charger systems generally have low wear.

In order to guarantee the usual reliability and availability, however, certain components should be exchanged preventively after a few years. Continuous improvements may require new software versions or hardware components.

During maintenance by our experts, the use of the respectively necessary and current version is given.

Battery Maintenance & Service

In addition to the expert maintenance of electronic and power components, special care must be taken of the batteries. Weak or defective individual cells usually do not occur to the operator until they already severely affect the entire battery system. In operation, the capacity of the battery is reduced by chemical processes. This is a perfectly normal process, but has a direct impact on the autonomy time. There is a risk that the UPS system will not be completely available at the moment of a system failure (black-out). Depending on the application, this can result in serious consequences such as data loss, production losses, personal injury or property damage. Furthermore there is a risk of uncontrolled extremely high short-circuit current in the case of insufficiently maintained batteries. Since battery cells / blocks are usually the driving force behind a battery backup system.

  • Battery racks and battery cells Installation
  • Test and record battery cell inter-cell connector resistance per IEEE- 484.
  • Initial battery filling and charging as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Document initial charging of battery
  • Verify that the battery has had an equalizing charge completed more than 3 days and less than 7 days prior to the start of the test
  • Read and record the specific gravity and float voltage of each cell just prior to the test.
  • Read and record the temperature of the battery electrolyte for an average temperature (suggested every sixth cell)
  • Disconnect the charger from the battery.
  • Discharge the battery at its rated current for its rated time.
  • Record cell voltage, and battery voltage, at the intervals specified with the load applied.
  • The necessary maintenance measures of a UPS system may vary depending on the application and load. Due to decades of experience, the technically correct and cost-effective maintenance is only guaranteed by a specialist. In order to avoid expensive dependencies, we offer the tailored maintenance contracts. The standardized maintenance contracts cover the demand for most systems and applications. They represent an ideal price-performance ratio. Specific maintenance contracts can be arranged for special requirements. Here too, we pays attention to a balanced price-performance ratio.
